Our Co-founder and CEO Tammy Sun created Carrot after spending tens of thousands of dollars of her personal savings to undergo egg freezing — something she was shocked to learn insurance wouldn't cover at all despite years of paying premiums. Through this experience, she was inspired to improve access to high-quality, inclusive fertility care while reducing the emotional and financial burden associated with it.
While at a talk about low-cost fertility treatments at the University of California at San Francisco, Tammy met Asima Ahmad, MD, MPH, a double board-certified doctor in reproductive endocrinology and obstetrics and gynecology. They decided to join forces and start Carrot Fertility. Now, six years later, Carrot is the leading global fertility healthcare and family-forming benefits provider for employers and health plans.
