Carrot Fertility co-founder Dr. Asima Ahmad appointed vice-chair of The American Society of Reproductive Medicine Special Interest Group

Today I’m proud to announce that my co-founder and Carrot’s Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr. Asima Ahmad has been appointed Vice-Chair of the Access to Care Special Interest Group by the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM). ASRM is an internationally recognized organization in the field of reproductive medicine. The purpose of this group is to raise visibility among the medical community on the urgent need for access to reproductive care and promote the advancement of policy initiatives to achieve universal access to fertility care. As Vice-Chair, Asima will develop initiatives on how to enable access to fertility treatments for the millions of people who may want or need them. Asima’s life’s work is devoted to helping people pursue parenthood, irrespective of race, gender, sexual orientation, class, geography, or income. She could not be better suited for this role.

Asima and I met at the ASRM conference in 2016, so this is an especially proud moment for us. We co-founded Carrot Fertility with a mission to make fertility care affordable and accessible for all, beginning in the workplace. As CMO, Asima oversees medical operations including clinical care navigation and the company’s medical experts program, which gives employees unlimited access to medical chats with reproductive endocrinologists, emotional support experts, and urologists. Our members tell us the combination of financial benefit and high-touch support is what makes Carrot invaluable to them as they navigate this highly complex area of healthcare.

Asima is a board-certified reproductive endocrinologist, obstetrician, and gynecologist. She earned a combined medical and public health degree from the University of Chicago’s Pritzker School of Medicine and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. She completed her residency in OB/GYN at the Yale School of Medicine and her fellowship training in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Ahmad’s work has been published extensively in academic literature on a wide range of topics related to infertility and women’s health. In addition to her role at Carrot, Asima sees patients at The Fertility Centers of Illinois.

Carrot’s clinical care navigation team is built by some of the top fertility doctors, researchers, and subject matter experts in the world. In 2020, expect to see expansion of our world-class global medical and care navigation team. Today, the entire team at Carrot congratulates Asima on this incredible professional distinction. We look forward to her continued leadership as an advocate for more equitable access to fertility care for all.
