Carrot’s comprehensive U.S. network audit, 2020 edition

Powered by more than 30,000 data points, Carrot maintains the largest high-quality fertility provider network in the country for employers.

At Carrot, we’re committed to making sure members receive only the highest quality fertility care. As part of that, our clinical team annually reviews nearly 900 Carrot providers in our managed network. This audit collects and reviews more than 30,000 data points to ensure they continue to meet rigorous standards. Today, we’re pleased to share the 2020 edition of Carrot's Comprehensive U.S. Network Audit — an analysis of the largest high-quality fertility provider network across the country serving employers.

First, though, we wanted to share some background on why we go through this extensive review process every year. First and foremost, we want to make sure that all clinics in our network continue to meet the Standards of Excellence we’ve set to ensure Carrot members are getting the highest-quality clinical care possible. This is part of our promise to employers — and we will continue to deliver on that promise.

Secondly, we use this as an opportunity to validate and update those Standards of Excellence based on the latest guidelines and ongoing research from the Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART), the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), as well as input from leading medical advisors. As fertility medicine, technology, and research progresses, so do our quality measurements.

Next, we wanted to look at what we assess and why. Carrot’s Standards of Excellence, which determine reimbursement eligibility, are developed around criteria that includes but is not limited to the following:

  1. Outcome data, reported to the CDC in accordance with the U.S. Fertility Clinic Success Rates And Certification Act of 1992
  2. Training and Certifications, such as reproductive endocrinology and infertility subspecialty fellowship and board certification for physicians, or American Board of Bioanalysis certification for lab staff
  3. Embryology lab accreditation
  4. Patient experience and accessibility, such as LGBTQ+ friendliness

Some of the clinics in our network are Carrot Partners. This means they offer even better preferred pricing, faster appointments, and more for an elevated member experience, making quality care even more accessible. We’re thrilled to share that the average scores of our Carrot partner clinics met or exceeded national averages in virtually every category assessed, including elective single embryo transfer (eSET) percentage, implantation rate, and positive pregnancy test rate.
