Carrot Fertility appoints Erica Palsis as Chief Legal Officer

Erica Palsis, an experienced in-house legal counsel across a variety of healthcare companies, has joined Carrot Fertility as Chief Legal Officer. In her role, Palsis will be responsible for overseeing all legal and regulatory aspects of the business, including commercial contracting, corporate governance, intellectual property, litigation, privacy, and regulatory compliance. Palsis will report directly to CEO and Founder Tammy Sun and work with the executive team and board of directors to provide strategic legal counsel while enabling Carrot to pursue future growth opportunities.

“Fertility and family-building care is an essential part of healthcare, but it can be complicated from a compliance perspective given nuanced and constantly changing rules and regulations in different parts of the world,” shared Palsis. “I look forward to working with the team to continue building upon Carrot’s years of success and experience in global compliance. We are in a unique position to remove complexities for our customers and help more members globally gain access to the care and support they need.”

Palsis joins Carrot during a time of continued global growth, with more than 1,000 customers and members across more than 130 countries. For multinational employers navigating complex and changing regulations, Carrot makes compliance simple, guiding companies through the applicable rules and regulations and providing a solution that meets the company’s specific compliance needs.

“I'm thrilled to welcome Erica Palsis to the executive team,” said Sun. “Erica is an exceptional leader with a rare blend of both breadth and depth of expertise in digital healthcare. I'm honored that she has chosen to invest her time and talent into scaling the next phase of Carrot's growth so that we may impact the lives of millions more members globally.”

Prior to joining Carrot, Palsis spent the last 15 years in legal roles across the healthcare industry. Most recently, she was General Counsel, Corporate Secretary, and Compliance Officer at Cue Health, a healthcare technology company, where she led all aspects of the company's legal, privacy, and compliance organizations, advising the board and executive management on the legal aspects of the company's IPO in September 2021.

Palsis held several other leadership roles at healthcare companies prior to Cue Health. At Livongo Health, as General Counsel, Corporate Secretary, and Privacy Officer, Palsis managed the company's legal, privacy, compliance, and regulatory affairs and quality management efforts, while creating a sustainable legal foundation for a rapidly growing start-up. She advised the board and executive management on the legal aspects of the company's IPO in July 2019 and the digital health industry's largest merger between Livongo and Teladoc Health in October 2020, valuing Livongo at $18.5 billion. Before Livongo, Palsis spent the first several years of her career as Corporate Counsel at Allscripts Healthcare where she provided a wide range of legal support and strategic advice as the legal business partner and trusted advisor for its ambulatory business unit.

Palsis is a member of the Board of Directors at Homethrive, a family caregiving solutions company. Palsis graduated from Loyola University Chicago with a B.A. in Political Science and earned her J.D. from DePaul University College of Law.
