The return to work after pregnancy is one of the most difficult transitions parents face, and only 21% of working mothers say their maternal needs are effectively supported by workplace benefits.

Carrot's 2025 report draws on the voices of 1,500 working mothers and 500 executives and HR managers to map the gap between what employers think they're providing and what employees actually experience. The findings are clear: awareness is growing, but action isn't keeping pace. Nearly half of working mothers (45%) have considered leaving their jobs due to lack of support, a number that climbs to 62% among Gen Z mothers.
