The Faith and Fertility Report

For many people on a fertility journey, faith is a core part of the experience and shapes how decisions get made, which providers feel trusted, and which treatment paths feel right.

Carrot's inaugural Faith and Fertility Report surveyed 400 U.S. respondents who've gone through fertility treatment in the last five years, spanning diverse geographies, ages, sexes, sexual orientations, and gender identities. The findings reveal why faith-inclusive care matters, and where today's fertility experience is falling short for people of faith.

• Faith is a critical consideration on fertility journeys. 51% of people with faith backgrounds say their faith impacts their healthcare decisions, rising to 75% for those actively involved in their faith.
• Patients want more faith-inclusive providers. 30% of respondents with a faith background wished their fertility care had been more inclusive of their faith, climbing to 47% among those with an active faith practice.
• Faith directly impacts treatment decisions. 42% say their faith ultimately shaped their treatment in at least one way, and 52% considered alternatives or modified approaches to conventional IVF or IUI.
• Excess embryos are an especially important consideration. 42% of respondents expressed concern about how excess embryos are handled, with significant differences in preferred paths among those with an active faith practice.
