What’s your favorite thing about your job?
As a queer person, I love connecting with other LGBTQ+ folks who are in the midst of forming and expanding their families! My priority is to contribute to a space where members feel seen and safe, and with this role, I get to be a part of that.
What types of situations have you helped Carrot members navigate?
LGBTQ+ members often come to Carrot looking for a deeper understanding of their family-forming options. I’ve helped members develop a grasp on the various pathways available to them based on their individual circumstances. I’ve assisted members in locating affirming providers from clinics to agencies and beyond. I’ve also validated the specific needs members have as LGBTQ+ folks navigating their family-forming journey and encouraged them to advocate for those needs and desires throughout the process.
What do you like to do for fun?
I throw pottery; it’s my favorite form of meditation. I also watch too much HGTV. Most of all, I enjoy spending time with my partner and friends, preferably outside in the sun!
Fun facts
I was raised by a stay-at-home dad and full-time working mom, which was pretty unique in the 90s! I love that my understanding of family structures was “non-traditional” from the start. It’s a learning I carry with me and one that impacts my work to this day.
