What’s your favorite thing about your job?
One thing I love about being an in vitro fertilization (IVF) nurse is the personal connection that I am able to make with patients on such an intimate level and providing information, support, and empowerment in their most vulnerable and unexpected moments. I feel content going to bed every night knowing I made a difference in the lives of others.
What types of situations have you helped Carrot members navigate?
I help Carrot members in a few different ways. During Carrot member chats, l help identify fertility clinics that best meet a member’s needs or provide a list of local agencies that they can use to aid their journey to parenthood. l also translate educational materials between English and Chinese so members can easily get the most up-to-date information regarding their care, and l make educational presentations and videos in multiple languages for members.
What do you like to do for fun?
I enjoy long hikes in the mountains because I am a person who truly admires and appreciates nature’s beauty. I have done many hikes in different national parks; it has been one of my favorite things to do besides doing my job!
Fun facts
One of my responsibilities is to provide educational training to fellow nurses, medical personnel, and patients. I do a lot of teaching on the job, but the teaching certification I officially obtained is to teach high school English.
